Hello, cycling enthusiasts! Today, I’m going to share a simple guide on how to fix a broken spoke on your bike. This guide is based on a video tutorial I recently created. You can watch the full video here.
Materials Needed to fix broken spoke
Before we start, make sure you have the following tools and materials:
- Pliers
- Spoke nipple
- Screwdriver
- Tiny wire
- Bike pump
Step-by-Step Guide
- Remove the Wheel: The first thing you need to do is take off the wheel from your bike.
- Remove the Tire and Tube: Next, deflate the tire and carefully remove it along with the tube. Remember to do this one side at a time to make it easier.
- Insert the Spoke Nipple: Locate the hole of the broken spoke and pull up the tape using something tiny through the hole. Insert the spoke nipple into the hole. I suggest using a wire to make this process easier.
- Secure the Spoke Nipple: Screw in the spoke nipple and check if it is secure enough. If your spoke nipple is partially broken, consider using a longer nipple for better grip.
- Reassemble the Wheel: Put the tape back on, followed by the tube and the tire. Ensure that the tire is well secured and go side by side while doing this.
- Inflate the Tire: Use your bike pump to inflate the tire to the recommended pressure.
- Reattach the Wheel: Finally, put the wheel back onto your bike and secure it well. Make sure to check the wheel after reattaching it.
And voila! You’ve successfully fixed a broken spoke on your bike. Remember to always check your bike before and after each ride to ensure it’s in good condition. Stay safe and happy cycling!
